5. A bitter pill to swallow but still probably preferrable.

Pence would be covered in the stink of Trump and would probably be vulnerable in 2020. Unlike Trump, I don't see the risk of him deteriorating into an autocratic despot who will threaten the most basic democratic institutions of the country, just a really shitty Republican president a la George W. Bush.

If Pence is President, I'm fairly confident we'll have elections in 2020. With Trump, I'm far less so.

2. Symbolic action?

From the article:

The legislation would symbolically make violations of federal conflict-of-interest rules “a high crime or misdemeanor under the impeachment clause of the U.S. Constitution.”

I added the highlight.

And with a GOP controlled Congress, what would be the likely outcome?

And without control of either the house or the senate, nothing they say will "pave the way" for anything.

that Democrats retake the House and Senate in 2018.

Impeachment isn't enough, removal from office is the goal. His corrupt party will never remove him.

They've been seeking revenge over Nixon for the last 42 years. If you were wondering, it's what the Clinton impeachment was all about. I can't imagine how long their spiterulness over removing Twittler would last.

We don't complain about Clinton's impeachment the same way they complained about Nixon. Just let it go and move on, you can't change history.

8. Additionally, if anyone thinks our elections will be decided by voters from here on

They're wrong. An entire new and dirty play book has been put in place with this one election. If there was actually hacking of voter machines or tabulators or damaging leaks -- it will be used in those state/precincts until it is stopped. And because those states that seem to hold all the cards in winning elections are all controlled by republicans, it won't stop. It will be used in local election and state elections. Because on a federal level, the republicans control all of the decisions to investigate and stop it, and they won't.

This is a new era where our elections will be controlled and manipulated like no other time in history.

Karl Rove's goal of a permanent republican majority is probably coming true.
