"SNIP.............
On MSNBCs Morning Joe, Donald Trumps former campaign manager Kellyanne Conway suggested the president-elect would find a way to get his daughter Ivanka and son-in-law Jared Kushner into the White House via a loophole in anti-nepotism law.
The anti-nepotism law apparently has an exception if you want to work in the West Wing because the president is able to appoint his own staff as opposed to the Cabinet, Conway said, adding: The president does have discretion to choose a staff of his liking. And so, if that actually is true and that legal advice holds, then that will open up a realm of possibilities.
We havent had adult children in the White House for quite a while. Weve had minor-aged children in the past several administrations . . . so it is something new, she continued. Youre talking about men and women who are incredibly talented and very smart and very involved in their fathers business, obviously. Its a family business. But I have been talking to them daily and the preliminary advice that I heard is that, first of all, nobodys made any final decisions, and when they make a final decision of whether they will or will not serve inside the administration, inside the West Wing, everyone will know that.
Conway called fair host Joe Scarboroughs assessment that Ivanka Trump and her husband, Jared Kushner, are the two most likely family members to hold staff-level positions in the Trump administration.

(27,811 posts)I think the real issue is that Donald can't stand being apart from her. I know we've all commented ad nauseam on their creepy relationship, but it really is disturbing.

(101,316 posts)Yes, if Ivanka becomes a speechwriter or something, fine. But if she and her husband are part of the president's team, they have to properly give up all their business interests too. So that's Jared's business that need to be sold off as well, and the proceeds put into a blind trust.

This is not normal.

(5,309 posts)They look for loopholes in everything. And when they can't find one, they create one using expensive lawyers and bribed congress members.

(23,954 posts)maybe that's the point? do radically atrocious things to suck up all the coverage, and subvert the nepotism laws while most of the journalists who care about such "details" aren't looking?

(90,767 posts)A family that is a reflection of America, where grandparents played a major role in the raising of the next generation. Where families lived together in multi-generational living conditions for the benefit of all.
But what Trump is trying to do is not a reflection of American families.
This is all about product placement with the name "Trump" being the product.
This is a reach-around that does nothing to change his conflicts of interest.
Trump Organization is - but America isn't. Trump is trying to install himself and his family into the WH as if they were a royal family that have gained a throne.
