Carolinians can protest 4 NC universities that support 16 pro GOP Trumputin radio stations.

How many protestors at a state capitol is one local screaming hater with a 50,000 watt radio station worth? What about 600 stations? 1200?

That’s what happened in Madison Wisconsin, and that’s what happened to OWS. Those radio racists have defined BLM as a terrorist organization. They will be used to attack demonstrators, distort their motives, and egg on vigilantes and the police.

I guarantee you that North Carolina GOP’s fascist power grab is getting a lot of support from the 16 Limbaugh stations that 4 NC universities broadcast sports on:

University of North Carolina 8
North Carolina State 3
Duke 3
East Carolina 2

Those stations are attacking protestors, excusing the Republicans, and probably suggesting swinging batons.

If Democrats protest the use of their colleges’ sports mascots and community credibility to sell the Republican power grab they will get media attention and threaten NC GOP's most important messaging tool. Whatever the response is from school administration, the prospect of losing the associations that have been attracting the advertisers that pay for broadcasting the Republican agenda will cause them great concern.

It's likely some of the Republican politicians and other think tank hacks are getting air time with friendly talkers on those stations while this is going on.

Those stations can not handle scrutiny. The only reason they are successful is that the people they attack and lie about ignore them.

The Democrats can go to the courts, and those stations will also be trying to intimidate the judges.

Until Democrats take on that major source of GOP messaging power they will continue to play defense.

It’s only a matter of time that these and at least 84 other universities separate from at least 257 RW talk radio stations. When global warming-caused melting stops the Gulf Stream and Europe starts freezing can the schools continue to defend broadcasting on stations that deny global warming?

These stations just gave us Trump. The sooner the 88 universities end their support for republican radio the better.

Blue cities that went 70-30 for Clinton have nothing but wingnut hate radio on the most powerful and prominent radio stations in those cities. Those "Blue" areas also add up to about 65% of the country's GDP.

A large number of those same stations also are the "home" broadcasters of major Division 1 sports. Forget the fact that a university has to be crazy to have their football games broadcast on a station that broadcasts 30 hours of Limbaugh each week... Cities are downright suicidal to not fight against a forum that depicts 70% of it's residents as anti American.

I don't give a crap if the other 23 hours, 59 minutes and 59 seconds of a radio stations daily broadcast is filled with cooking shows and Buckeye football. If they broadcast one fucking second of hate radio... I'm calling their advertisers.

There is absolutely no reason that Raleigh NC should tolerate not 1..But 3 fucking hate stations.

Protesters are in the wrong place. There should be thousands outside of these local radio station offices.

more effective than capitols and symbolic locations.

that's why protests don't work anymore. a few guys hiding behind call screeners can shout over them all day and for weeks afterwards, dehumanize the protestors, distort their objectives, and egg on the cops (listening to talk radio and their talk radio-listening friends).

how many NY ows protestors went though the union station building housing one of the original limbaugh stations?

the stations and the universities that support them need to see protests. i think i've heard of one such protest. that is the root of the problem imo.

Then two comments on this topic we are truly fucked.

Saw hate radio turn my Democratic brother into a flaming wingnut that I won't even talk to anymore with my own eyes. Took about 12 months.

Blue cities ought to be marching with pitchforks and torches on the broadcast booths of these stations. Rawanda did nothing about hateful propaganda and look at what happened.

We did nothing and we get Trump.

What will it take to wake people up.

1000 people show up at the state Capitol and people yawn. 1000 people show up at the local radio station and boycott their local and national advertisers and people will take note

people it hurts the most ignore it the most. but it's going to hurt everyone.

that's why i think the universities are the place to start. a few student groups could get noticed if they complained, with or without protests. getting the campus papers to write about it etc.

the radio stations are attacking public ed and teachers and intellectualism, trying to abolish the minimum wage and oppose lowering student debt, and so on.

finding out how much a licensing co pays for the radio rights and then starting a fund raiser to make up the difference might get noticed.

black athletes are used to support radio stations that excuse racism.

and so on.
