People need to chill as individuals and warm up as a group
I get it. Bashing and fighting and criticizing and shaming and blaming can be cathartic. It would be great if they also worked, but they don't. Neither does booing, demonstrating, or tweeting. Editorials don't work. Neither does this post.
There has been a lot of hacking going on, and we are all way too vulnerable to it. It wasn't just the Russians hacking software systems. It was also the Republicans hacking our Constitutional processes. The Benghazi Select Committee was a hack, an unethical exploitation of the power and accesses given to one branch of government. Voter ID laws are hacks. They are designed to exclude legitimate access to power for a subset of people.
Truth itself was hacked, demonstrating just how vulnerable it really is if we didn't already know. We keep thinking the truth will fight for us, but the fact is that it's a two way street. It fights for us when we fight for it. Merely knowing the truth means nothing as does merely saying the truth. Saying, "my goodness, I'm being mugged!" doesn't keep you from being mugged.
I think we are going to need rallies and lots of them. We are going to have to get together physically, ignore our individual differences, and generate some serious oxytocin. I'm not talking about "demonstrations." That's premature, imo. Piecemeal demonstrations by fragments of the Dem coalition don't demonstrate anything but weakness in my opinion. They antagonize people and embolden the other side of the argument. Demonstrations can occur when and if we develop enough strength to demonstrate strength.
