Proposed ambassador David Friedman said that he looks forward to working with the US Embassy in Israel's capital, Jerusalem.
This is an absolute break with diplomatic history, has the American Embassy has never been situated in Jerusalem. Placing our embassy there would be interpreted as clearly endorsing pro-settlement growth in Israel. This would scuttle the two nation approach of the United States has taken for decades.
How long before terroristic jihadi fighters seek to do damage to the United States people and our interest?
Answer--not long at all.
This heavy-handed approach to the delicate relationship between Israel and her neighbors will greatly unspool the progress that previously had been made.
I sure as hell hope that the Joint Chiefs Of Staff and other experts will speak emphatically to President-elect Trump about the dangers of snubbing the Palestinians and other non-Israeli players in the Middle East.

(42,641 posts)But some members of the current government have specifically stated that there will never be no two solution. And the US will protect the Israeli State's right to refuse to follow applicable laws and treaties.
As to Sadat, that was an internal Egyptian problem.
