"SNIP..............
Paul Waldman: This isnt just hardball politics. This is a fundamentally anti-democratic approach to government, one that says that when we win, we get to implement our agenda, and when you win, you dont.
To put this in context, perhaps nowhere in the country have Republicans moved more aggressively to solidify power by disenfranchising their opponents as they have in North Carolina.

(42,641 posts)8 years of GOP obstructionism on a national level shows that this is simply how the GOP does business. They obviously do not really believe in a multi-party system.

(34,195 posts)We may no longer have a democracy after four years of a GOP Presidency, Congress, and Supreme Court.
We just had a Russian backed coup.

(406 posts)No one will be safe from these fundies implementing their will on all of us according to their archaic beliefs, complete absence of fair play, compromise or looking out for the best interests of anyone outside their own circle.

(5,997 posts)A party wouldn't do this if they thought they could retain the office in the future. Changing demographics are leading to oblivion for the Republicans. Check out this interesting article:

We need to wake up and stop their efforts to destroy democracy.

(19,979 posts)in the abuse of power to thwart democracy. The communists could only dream of doing this much to undermine U.S. democracy.
And yes, if they succeed in NC then other states will likely adopt the same methods. That's sort of what happened with open carry gun laws. It started in a few (mostly red) test states and when it succeeded there then other (mostly red) states followed their lead.

(13,616 posts)reminding me why I knew having the Dem convention in Charlotte back in 2012 was a bad idea. NC acted progressive to get the Yankees and bank money in, but then relapsed into Dixie Dementia. Thanks for reminding me so that I can help in any effort to scrutinize and marginalize you as the fools and rogues you are.
