This may have been mentioned here before but a guest on Smerconish said it best:
If the electoral college cannot elect a president, then it moves to the House of Representatives. And we know how it will decide.

(16,402 posts)[font color="navy" face="Verdana"]There is, according to the Palmer Report, another possibility: Supreme Court can disqualify Donald Trump and Mike Pence after Electoral College vote.
Apparently, there is precedent for this glorious possibility, and I trust SCOTUS much now more than I did in 2000.

(47,476 posts)And I am afraid that Pence could stay for 8 years. With Trump, there is still hope to kick him out in 2020.

I know, I know...be careful what you wish for....but I say this with a good sense if certainty that Pence is the lesser of two evils.

(6,931 posts)Look, if this thing gets thrown to Congress, where the Republicans rule, all the blood will be on their hands. The Tea Party, the Trumpistas, and the moderate conservatives will fight both in the House and in the streets and many Republicans will go down in 2018. If we can bear two years of Pence (the likely "compromise" President) we should have a pretty good advantage in 2 years.
