I am also wondering who finally caught the ear of Trump. Someone had to explain, possibly with big pictures, cartoon captions, and small words, why Ivanka's $70,000 tea meat up was such a bad idea.

Perhaps he really no longer wants that kind of structured position or role in government.
He's likely content to sound off at special events, or as a (paid) speaker/lecturer and author, making the round of talk shows, author tours, and punditry events.
