we are going to blow our brains out.”

Political scientist James MacGregor Burns back in the 1960s when it was feared the George Wallace's popularity (!) would result in no candidate getting an electoral majority.

Took a while longer, but this time we have an electoral majority of generally extremist party stalwarts who would fit right in with Wallace's. And we are to a very real degree in the process blowing our brains out. There's strong evidence that the once-proud GOP already lost its mind.

Wasn't the Soviet era saying about Pravda and TASS (Pravda means "truth" in Russian, and TASS was/is a news agency)--There's no Truth in the News and no News in the Truth?

On edit, Pravda was also a newspaper, the organ of the Soviet Communist party.

There were two newspapers in Moscow during the Soviet regime: Pravda, which means Truth, and Izvestiya, which means News.

The saying was, "there is no Pravda in Izvestiya, and no Izvestiya in Pravda."

the first thing he would do is lead by example and cut Congress' health care. They can buy it on their own. Why should taxpayers? And they are reelected every two years so they shouldn't consider it a permanent job.

It's been very difficult to get in to the spirit of Christmas this year. I'm not even putting up the tree. Only put up about half the decorations--
and waited until last weekend to do so. This year was the 25th year I've written a holiday letter to go with our cards--usually with a humorous twist--
and I just couldn't come up with a hook this year. So I flat out told people we'd been having trouble getting into the spirit of the season. Bah, humbug, indeed. We have quite a few family members who were Trump voters. I wanted to write "FUCK YOU" all over the face of the letters sent to them, but I didn't.

I erased the word "great" from my vocabulary. Yes donations galore you have your pick from environment, ACLU, Southern Poverty Law Center, Credo, and many many others.

I am usually upbeat about the holidays, but I am knocking it down a notch. So sad our country is hemorrhaging.

we need this and this
