Google Chrome Extension Allows You To Fact Check Donald Trump's Tweets
Reading between the lines of Donald Trump's tweets is about to get a lot easier.
The Washington Post has released an add-on for Google's Chrome Web browser that will fact-check the President-elect's tweets. The RealDonaldContext extension is meant to "add context to Trump's not-quite-accurate tweets," according to its description.
For instance, by now, you probably saw Trump's tweet last week about Vanity Fair. With the RealDonaldContext extension installed, you'll see a note under the tweet informing you that Trump's message about the magazine "appears to have been in retribution for a bad review of the restaurant in Trump Tower" with a link to learn more.
In other cases, the extension will inform you that Trump's tweet was simply "incorrect or false," as is the case with a message he posted on November 27 claiming he not only won the Electoral College by a "landslide" but also "won the popular vote if you deduct the millions of people who voted illegally." The extension points out that "Trump didn't win in a landslide in in any sense" and that "there is absolutely no evidence that there were a significant number of votes cast illegally," as the New York Times reported Sunday.
