We had a pipe freeze and bust, but a motel here just lost 40 rooms

We are lucky everything is covered except for the deductible.

40 rooms of water damage working in the cold. Sprinkler system. Will try to find a link later.

We got down to about -1 last night and I let the faucets run a very small stream. In the end it's better than paying for a busted pipe.

We had a mouse ruin the electrical on our A/C the year we moved in. $750 the house warranty didn't cover it because there was a rodent clause. We learned from that.

Apparently a family of mice moved in this fall. They moved insulation to build a great nest next to the interior fireplace flue to keep warm. It created an empty space for the cold air (-30+ wind chill) to travel to the pipe that never existed.

That brings us back to making sure rodent damage is covered in our homeowners policy.
