~Shirley Temple
According to a 2013 report from Pew Research, hardly any kids in America believe in Santa Claus, hardly anyone likes its obligations, everybody hates shopping during the season and only 7% look forward to being around happy and joyful people. The ones who do look forward to being around happy and joyful people are probably the ones who have spent the last few weeks glue-gunning little pieces of felt on something.
Based on statistics like those, maybe Sarah Palin was right when she first sniffed out a War on Christmas back in 2013, one that was oozing out of those toxic bunkers of liberal media.
But not so fast, Sarah. Religious blogs like FaithStreet have published opinions that telling kids about a fat man that squeezes through chimneys make parents feel uncomfortable: they dont like lying to their children, they dont like Santa getting all the credit for all their glue-gunning (isnt that greed or something?), and they suspect that Santa, by association, turns god into a fairy tale.

(17,160 posts)A group of us celebrate Dogmas. No presents, no red and green, no christmas type food, no tinsel or tree. We spend the day together because we like each other's company. Drink too much, have a bbq meal where everyone brings a pre-arranged item.
This started because non of us are religious and consider it hypocritical to celebrate religious events. We don't need more knickey-knackeys to gather dust on shelves or wish to contribute to the insanity and out of control consumerism.
Oh, and we all bring our dogs.

Christmas is very much a cultural holiday in addition to religious. for many non christians it's the gifts, decorations, food that they like.
And it's the gifts, decorations etc that none of us can stand.
Yes, some people do celebrate christmas with pizza. I would say the commonly thought christmas dishes are things like turkey and, strangely, christmas pudding. I'm not sure if you're serious with your post. Maybe I'm missing the humour.
Chinese food.

(2,097 posts)exactly like Thanksgiving except:
Ditch the turkey, sub in ham. Eliminate the cranberries. Add cookies.
This Public Service Announcement has been brought to you by the Midwestern Starch Lover's Association, where every meal comes with 2 kinds of potatoes, stuffing and bread.

(21,020 posts)Christmas Eve with both sides of the family (one side per night).
Some of the family are religious...some not.
I'm not, so the whole celebration for me is about the winter solstice...the return of sunlight to the northern hemisphere.
And symbolic to that are the Christmas lights. I love to see the light displays. When my sisters and I were kids, our parents would drive around so we could see the lights. I loved it.
The lights...the smell of the Christmas tree...maybe some Christmas snow with sparkling ice crystals to make it all magical.
