Victims of Berlin attack identified as witnesses tell of horror at carnage

THE owner of the truck used in the deadly attack on a Berlin Christmas market said the death of his cousin has left them “shaken to the limit” as six of the victims have been identified as German nationals.

A truck owned by Ariel Żurawski’s company Uslugi Transportowe was used to plough through the festive crowds on Monday evening, killing 12 people and injuring up to 50.

The first victim appeared to be the driver, named as Lukasz Urban, a 37-year-old father of one who is a cousin to Mr Zuraswki. It’s believed he was shot at some point in the afternoon by the perpetrator who then hijacked the truck.

Mr Zurawski said he had not recieved official confirmation of his cousin’s death but recognised him from pictures at the scene.
“His body was found in the cabin,” he said. “His last contact was at 3pm when his wife called him.”
