Yikes. Footage of Colombian 727 take off and crash

Talk about up close plane spotting.

It's a freighter so obviously less casualties. But still... RIP

There is some footage of a survivor at the end. Might be disturbing to some. ( No gore or anything)

Aerosucre Colombia Boeing 727-200, registration HK-4544 performing a freight flight from Puerto Carreno to Bogota (Colombia) with 5 crew, did not become airborne while taking off from Puerto Carrena's runway 25 at about 17:10L (23:10Z), broke through the airport perimeter fences, became airborne, lost height again, impacted ground about 5nm from the airport and burst into flames. Two persons were rescued alive, three persons died on scene, one of the initial survivors succumbed to the injuries in hospital.

I hear you, but I tend to give the guy who almost got a jet powered haircut the benefit of the doubt.

When they started including cameras in phones around ... 2000? I thought it was the dumbest thing ever. I mean, what are you going to do with a camera in a phone?

Boy am I a putz.

but it has become so much more than a phone, now. A camera is definitely handy.

presumably with the second guy on back. I think we can forgive either of them for shaky camera work.

They did go across scrub to get there and make sure the guys who survived weren't in imminent danger.

Horrible accident.

I've been around planes my whole life and would like to think I would be brave enough to ride up on a scene like that. But I've also seen plenty of videos where a fuel tank popped off.

... and perhaps damage and/or engine loss due to object strike or ingesting debris.

You can see a surge/flash on right engine as it crosses the road. That usually means the engine is toast. Who knows what other damage there was to flight control surfaces. Not sure how big of a problem one engine out on a three engine aircraft is. Or how much of a problem asymmetrical trust is with all engines grouped on the tail. But a right bank in to a right engine out may have been the final nail.

I guess these close calls are a thing with this airport and airline.

Previous 727 from same runway. The runway at 5900 feet is barely long enough for a loaded 727. No margin for error
