(5,914 posts)He will save us from Putin's strong-arm tactics that he's exercising against the weak president Obama. Thank God for Trump to come in and change things.
You and I both know what's really going on. It seems obvious. It IS obvious. This stupid game has been played countless times before.

(5,111 posts)they can't all be that ignorant...can they. Plus why would Putin wait until the last month of the Obama presidency to "freeze" relations? Hopefully, the other show will drop and it will become obvious to even the Trumpsters what Putin was reacting to... it will be something even Fox can't ignore.

(5,914 posts)Are you kidding me?
It doesn't matter when relations are "frozen". The story you're going to hear and love is going to be the same we all get on Inauguration Day.

(5,914 posts)When American hostages at the Iran Embassy, who had been held for 444 days, and that we all heard about on Nightline (an ABC news show that was created during that crisis) were finally released upon Reagan's inauguration.
We were all told at the time that Reagan's inherent strength got those hostages out. The Iranians were terribly afraid of him, so they let them go. It was only later that we found out that Reagan's team had already negotiated a deal with Iran to release those hostages given that they could give them weapons.
This is the same thing happening again. It's crazy that I'm watching it going on, but no one can do anything about it. Maybe I'm just too old.

(59,503 posts)Unless something changed today, there is a readout of a Kerry/Lavrov phone call in yesterday's State Department briefing -- and there was a statement from Kerry offering condolances on the death of the Russian ambassador. For a long time, Kerry has been credited to be almost the only one even trying to speak to Russia with Obama's blessings.
From yesterday's state department briefing:
QUESTION: And then I just wanted to ask about the Moscow talks on Syria today, whether youve been in touch with anyone you, the State Department and have any readout or assessment of what was agreed in this declaration.
MR KIRBY: Well, as you know, we werent a party to the talks, but Secretary Kerry did speak today to both Foreign Minister Lavrov and Foreign Minister Cavusoglu, who were there. And they provided the Secretary a sense of how the discussions went. I think if you havent seen it, we can make sure you get it there was a joint statement issued by all three countries at the end of the discussion, and I think they did a press conference as well. And as I said yesterday, the Secretary certainly welcomes any effort to try to get a ceasefire in Syria that can actually have meaningful results, particularly for those people that remain in Aleppo, as well as the resumption of political talks. And when he talked to both foreign ministers, he again stressed the need to try to get those political talks back on track as soon as possible.

From Monday - Kerry's statement on the ambassador's assassination.
The United States condemns the assassination today in Ankara of Russian Ambassador Andrey Karlov. Our thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones, the Russian people, and with the other victims who were injured in this shooting.
We stand ready to offer assistance to Russia and Turkey as they investigate this despicable attack, which was also an assault on the right of all diplomats to safely and securely advance and represent their nations around the world.

It is clear that Russia, Turkey and Iran have been in talks on Syria for about a week - and both the UN and the US are not there. Lavrov has spoken of talks with the UN and US being useless. The UN and the US, on the other hand, have both called the actions of the Assad regime and Russia to be despicable - and more.
The question I have is what is in it for RUSSIA to make announcements that nearly all commincations with the US are frozen?

(34,661 posts)If you have noticed Trump's latest tirades have been focused on the Obama's and Clinton's. When Mr. Obama ramped up sanctions, which has hit Putin's Pals as well as his Oil Friends,Trump has slimmed Michele Obama, yesterday he went after Bill Clinton, which he will pay the price bigly, and still playing the Hillary is a Crook card when commenting about the Electoral College.
Putin is all in with the Con Man Elect, clue, watch what China is doing, today they expanded their export of certain key Extraction Resources. This is a shot at our so called East Coast Coal Exports, yes those same stooges that voted for the Con Job. Just the start.
