I am sorry to say this, but there is no higher authority than President.

For some reason, Dear President Obama did not fully embrace the power of the office. He didn't use the internet or the bully pulpit to take to task the immediate challenge by the GOP to the validity of his election. He didn't understand that no matter what he did, the GOP would obstruct.

With Trump we see how the power of the Presidency has been resurrected. Trump doesn't do anything he doesn't want to and no one can or will tell him otherwise. And he does it boldly, out loud, and with no pretense.

Right before my very eyes I'm watching the dismantling of long-held traditions and the chaos of intermingling private security with the Secret Service.

For the handfew GOP who might question or challenge Trump's policies, they are in mortal danger of losing elections by being ripped apart on Britebart; GOP voters bible.

No press conference.
No tax returns.
No divesting of holdings.
No respect for the fact that we have only one president at a time.
No respect for diplomacy.
No repect for the truth,no qualms about lying each and every day.
No intention to stop fighting via Twitter.

He has the power to redefine what it means to be president, and he is freely, without obstruction, doing it right before our eyes.

It seems like people forget president obama is still president. I don't want to hear from trump. Our president gave a great press conference last week. Why are we minimizing president obama for trump? No thank you!

"After his acceptance speech in Chicago’s Grant Park the night of Election Day, which was Nov. 4, 2008, Mr. Obama waited only three days before holding his first press conference as the president-elect.

On Nov. 7, 2008, he spoke to reporters to outline his first planned steps to combat the economic crisis, taking questions from his position on implementing tax increases to his intelligence briefings.

“Immediately after I become president, I’m going to confront this economic crisis head on by taking all necessary steps to ease the credit crisis, help hardworking families, and restore growth and prosperity,” Mr. Obama said.

Mr. Obama held another news conference on Nov. 24, 2008, to introduce his economic team and take questions from reporters. He held a similar news conference to introduce his picks for national security positions and take more questions, including Hillary Clinton as his secretary of State, on Dec. 1. Other similar events with Mr. Obama introducing a cabinet nominee and taking questions were held throughout December."

the executive branch is 1 of 3 co-equal branches in the US government.

all three branches are subordinate to the US Constitution.

than the other two branches, so the OP is just wrong.

It's just easier to see the POTUS as being the leader in charge because there is only one at a time.

That's what we need to know. Because that one truth destroys every semblance of equality that this country is supposed to stand for.

I do think this is spot on and horrifying.

"He has the power to redefine what it means to be president, and he is freely, without obstruction, doing it right before our eyes."

I also think it needs to be looked at and understood. That is why I just wanted to point out the aspect I agree with. It is a big one.

If we want to become a stagnant backwater, mired in a twentieth century fantasy world, then Trump's our man.

There are leaders in China who could raise a pinky finger and empty our WalMarts.

I actually think that's the fascinating thing about Putin and Trump's relationship. Red state U.S.A. and Russia have a lot in common. White, racist, stuck in the past, corrupt, and festering in old hatreds.

Military power has been obsolete for a long time. The modern world economy is so brittle that military conflicts between any of the major powers would bring the entire house down. Oil and oil refining, especially, is a very high tech business using materials and equipment sourced from many, many places. The easy oil is all gone.

Trump seems unstable enough that I suspect they'll give him the same "nuclear football" they built for drunk Nixon. Maybe lots of blinking lights, but if you push the button the only thing that happens is they rush you to the padded room to keep you safe.
