For one, women come in all colors as apposed to the racist, sexist, bigoted WHITE MEN that are trying to control our very rights over our bodies. The sTrumpet is waltzing his way to the WH to defund PP. It is about abortion or something. The stupid man does not realize or just does not care that PP is critical preventive care for women. He is coming for our mammograms, our family planning, our birth control. There he goes again grabbing our pussies. Then he will go after our safety nets.

Eight staggering GOP comments on rape and women
As Anna North reported earlier this year, other Republicans paved the way for Akins recent statements. In 1995, Republican Henry Aldridge stated that when a woman is raped, the juices dont flow, and in 1988 another Republican congressman stated that women emit a certain secretion that stops pregnancy when they are raped. (Which has led many of us to wonder, which is it, guys? Do these mythical juices flow, or do they stop flowing, when a woman is raped?)
2. The daddy of all these rape theories. The National Right to Life Committees John C. Willkes claims in an article that the trauma of rape prevents pregnancy i.e., he basically just makes shit up,
3. GOP donor asks, Want contraception? Put an aspirin between your knees. This line, now a total cultural punch line, came from Foster Friess, who was a big donor to Rick Santorum before moving on to support Romney. The video clip featuring Friess comments and Andrea Mitchells flummoxed response went viral this spring.
Friess: This contraceptive thing, my gosh its such inexpensive, back in my days we used Bayer aspirin for contraception, the gals put it between their knees and it wasnt that costly.
4. GOP lawmakers seek to legally redefine rape as forcible rape so fewer women will qualify as victims. Remember the media firestorm around the war on women? One of its major fronts consisted of congressional shenanigans around the definition of rape in the noxious H.R. 3 No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion bill. These efforts included Akin and V.P. candidate Paul Ryan and were aimed at siphoning off the number of abortion-funding exemptions so that only the rarest few qualified. What offended women most and eventually scuttled the bill was the idea that the government could weigh whether your rape counted or not.

Alrighty then, women are not a minority. Got it. We are paid less than a man. We are not promoted more than men. Once as a newlywed I was asked on an interview if I planned to have children, I was shocked. What did that have to do with my qualifications? Are men asked that question? No.
We pay more for insurance than a man. Pre existing conditions, did you know that insurance companies can deny a woman benefits for having been pregnant? Did you know that if you were abused by a spouse, it will be considered as a pre existing condition. BENEFITS DENIED!
I am concerned here. In a word they want to kill us by eliminating our health care, then when they take our birth control away well that means they want us to breed, barefoot and pregnant. My take is they want to cull the herd. When all is said and done... They want us to breed the new Arian race.
Fuck you very much.

(115,686 posts)for every 100 women in the US, though they are not distributed evenly. http://www.businessinsider.com/map-the-states-with-more-men-than-women-2013-12 However, women have always been, and still are, treated as if they were minorities, with all the disadvantages you list. The real point is not whether women (or any group) is or is not a numerical minority, but whether they are disadvantaged by having less power. Men in the US, particularly white men, hold most of the power, so it doesn't really matter whether there are more or fewer of them.

(38,311 posts)There really is a glass ceiling in U.S. society. Several women in my family have hit it.
Much of this nation is run by a bunch of insecure white guys who are uncomfortable around strong women. They do not accept women as equals.

(30,811 posts)You don't have to be in the minority to face discrimination. It would be more accurate to describe women as being a group that is discriminated against.

(83,754 posts)It goes far beyond discrimination.
So, being paid less man then that is just, pfft...discrimination. Being less than a man in all walks of life is just, pfft discrimination. To be told that rape is okay sit back and enjoy it...no problem your body will just shut down and you will not get pregnant then if you do it is an act of god, embrace that new life, pfft just discrimination. They redefine what rape is. When you do we want to give the rapist rights over your child, pfft just pfft discrimination. They want to give us enforced ultra sounds. They want to force us to bury a fetus.
No, when you have a white majority telling US what to do and when to do it and how we must feel about every personal aspect of our life, the most intimate aspects of a woman's life and her own vagina are not her own. It is government run. We are being regulated and we are indeed the minority.
