Keith Ellison Says Its Time For Democrats To Stop Ignoring Their VotersKate Abbey-Lambertz
Huffington Post
According to Politico, some of Perezs support comes from Democrats wary of the controversy and concerned Ellison is too connected to identity politics. But Ellison dismissed the contentious theory that identity politics is costing Democrats voters.
The idea that somehow weve got to go talk to the white working class or we can talk to people of color is a ridiculous notion that must be rejected, Ellison said. Instead, he said Democratic issues like social security and better wages have universal appeal.
The way Democrats campaign is, you look at all the red states and get rid of them. Look at the blue states, ignore them, and then typically solely focus on likely voters in swing states, Ellison said. When you ignore people they have a tendency to do what? Ignore you right back.

Why else would he be making distinctions that it's crazy to think you can't talk to white people because of black people?

(18,124 posts)given THE FACT that I am about to becomes a citizen of dumbtrumpistan, I think the Democratic Party has a hell of a lot of work to do to regain it's stature as a major Party in AmeriKKKa. I will fight until I can't anymore any dumbtrumper that feels their color and perceived white entitlement and privilege means that I have to fight to be a man a man in dumbtrumpistan. the trumpdumps will be telling him to go back where he came from. I tell any white working class whiner that they have to get off their lazy asses, stop watching foxsnooze lies, blaming immigrants and poor people, who are doing jobs that they feel too privileged to do and damn sure won't do and who had not a damn thing to do with this new WORLD economy. Get retrained for this working world now. Those jobs that we could sit at for 8 hours push a button and make something for a car or some other ARE GONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.they will never return, trumpfuhrer lied to you, you ate it up and a bad case of trumpfuhrer indigestion is on the way for the next 4 years. So STFU and get out there and take care of business. Plenty of programs to help them because.......,.

(3,145 posts)Well at least they did with
Ted Kennedy (Caused death of someone through careless driving)
Bill Clinton (Serial philandering, possible sexual assault)
John Kerry (Made statements that can be considered anti-military and anti-American)
Michael Dukakis (Vetoed bill that would have denied furlough to convicted murderers. cf. Willie Horton case)
John Edwards (Cheated on cancer stricken wife for years with campaign staffer)
Barack Obama (Only disavowed statements by controversial pastor after media shitstorm)
Each of these men were hammered hard in the press and by Republicans and yet the Democratic Party "stood by their man"
Tell me again why they get all squeamish with Keith Ellison?
Me.

(3,425 posts)So it would seem that if he is wrong, why have we lost the house, the senate and the White House. We have lost votes of the very people that should be supporting us. Instead they voted for a party that will take away their medicare, social security will be privatized, so we will soon kiss that goodbye, and the leader of the party that they chose to put in the white house is a woman hating, seriously deranged sex maniac who has teamed up with his psychotic Russian counterpart that wants to destroy this country.
I did not see Ellison has blaming the average democrat, although the way they voted, I believe they bear some of the responsibility. I think he was criticizing the way the democratic party has led us during the last eight years. Let's face it, we lost to a person that makes George Bush look good. If we do not stop and ask ourselves why, we will soon become completely irrelevant and that is too depressing to even contemplate.
