(26,260 posts)We still have snow from the last two 'storms' but it is getting pretty compacted and dingy because we've been above freezing, for the past few days.
We've only had TWO nights at or below freezing so far this winter.

(5,764 posts)We're expecting some potentially nasty storms, as a result. It was in the seventies last December, also. People around here, are acting like cold weather in the winter, is abnormal.

(60,010 posts)and the forecast said it was to be 78, which may have hit for a few minutes.
But we had/have clouds, so that cools it down a bit.

Within average range.
Not that the last few years have been "average." A typical winter would "start" in October with hard freezes; November would give us frozen fog and a bit of snow, December and January more snow, February a bit of snow.
The last few years until this winter, October has been warm, and a winter storm hits in November, with December much warmer than usual, and only a small amount of snow here and there the rest of the winter.
This year? It stayed warm right through until the last few days of November, and we've had storm after storm after storm with heavy loads of snow, 3 days in a row of school cancellations (which is rare), and when the sun does shine, it's freezing. The warmest it's been in the last couple of weeks is 34, and that little warming spell is over. We're back to what's fairly typical: 20s during the day, single digits at night. (Knocking on wood) Hopefully, we won't go into the negatives, which also does happen.
I'm having a hard enough time getting out of my 100 yard long driveway, even though it's been plowed.

(111,255 posts)We did have measurable snow a couple of days ago. Nobody seems to be in the holiday spirit around here, though.
The ski area to the east of town opened today, maybe that will help some people.
