I am planning on keeping my White House Christmas Card from 2016

and bringing it out every year as a reminder of better times.

I wonder if I could get it laminated.

I am pretty sure I will not get one next year and if I do.....it will go into the shredder or fireplace.

1. Office stores used to laminate stuff for you

and now they want you to buy the damn machine to clutter up your house. They might know where you could get it done, though.

2. You can laminate it yourself

with a peel-and-stick kit from Staples or, I'm sure, Amazon. Heat not necessary. Items I laminated with this type of kit still look good after many years.

3. I've been wearing my Obama-Biden baseball cap a lot

Not that I was ashamed in any way but since Sept I've been wearing it to the gym and weekend morning runs pre-shower.

It's one of the best caps I've ever owned. Really high quality (as should be expected) and fitted.

4. Archivists don't recommend lamination to preserve things

You can get archival quality protective sheets at office supply stores. If the unfolded card is more than 8.5" x 11" look for scrapbook pages - 12" x 12" are the largest they make those - or newspaper size - generally 11" x 17".

A good way to keep them flat is to put in a piece of acid free mat board - often you can get scraps free from framing shops since the usually throw away the middles that they cut out to show the pictures. Cut the mat board just big enough to fit into the protective page and then slip in your card.

5. I got cards from 2009-2011...

...then I got an invite to a WH Party in 2012...

...then I didn't get anything.

I don't remember doing anything wrong...

6. I happened to visit DC on Obamas first Christmas

And i bought a ornament that says the year and has the white house on it. I put it in the front this year as a good bye to obama.
