Jacob Kornbluh @jacobkornbluhIsrael will share the evidence it has that Obama was behind UN reso. with team Trump, says @AmbDermer
Israel has evidence that U.S. President Obama's administration is behind Friday's Security Council resolution, Israel's Ambassador to the U.S. Ron Dermer told CNN on Monday.
"We will present this evidence to the new administration through the appropriate channels. If they want to share it with the American people they are welcome to do it," Dermer told CNN.
According to Dermer, not only did the U.S. not stand by Israel's side during the vote, it "was behind this ganging up on Israel at the UN." Dermer said it was "a sad day and a shameful chapter in U.S.-Israeli relations."
Dermer reiterated the message in subsequent interviews with MSNBC and FOX, saying Israel has evidence that the Obama administration was behind the wording of the Security Council resolution and plugged to advance it.
The White House Deputy National Security Advisor Ben Rhodes, denied these claims in an interview with Channel 2. Rhodes said the resolution was worded and pushed by Egypt and the United States decided to abstain because the wording reflected its position on settlements.
Rhodes said the White House is disappointed at the strong and personal reactions by the Prime Minister's Office against President Obama, especially in light of the unprecedented military aid his administration has given Israel during his eight years in office.

If it goes anything like the elections, this will paint Obama into a corner. And no, we cannot use the same rhetoric against Israel that we do against Russia.

(59,503 posts)Their proof seems to be:
1) Ron Dermer said so -- this though I doubt whether the right wing American born Israeli Ambassador to the US is in the inner circle with Obama, Kerry, Powers, Rice, Rhodes ... or anyone else in the inner circle.
2) Kerry met with Erekat, the Palestinian chief negotiator when Erekat was in DC. This was not secret and on the State Department web site. I ASSUME he spoke of Palestinian issues because that was kind of the point. Note Erekat also met with the Trump team as well.
3) Even more oddly -- this "smoking gun" Kerry went to New Zealand last month after the election (actually on election day). Clearly to secretly get NZ on board ... or as was on his agenda, to celebrate the designation of the Ross sea in the Antarctic a protected area - something Kerry was a leader on as was NZ ( http://www.cnn.com/2016/10/27/world/ross-sea-antarctica-worlds-largest-protected-area/ ) Why then? Kerry went to the Antarctic next, then returned to NZ before continuing on a trip that included going to COP22 in Morocco. Doing it before COP22 is obvious and it was in a small window when there was a possibility he could see the South Pole itself. The entire itinerary was on the SD website BEFORE election day.
Not to mention it is a strawman.
Why?
There would be NOTHING unethical or even wrong if the US DID draft and push a resolution. It is pretty obvious they did not do so. Had they done that -- it would NOT have had things - itemized by Samantha Powers in her powerful UN speech - we did not agree with, leading us to abstain, rather than vote for it. Not to mention, I would imagine that many countries did speak to Kerry or Powers on the Israel/Palestine issue. It is completely within in their job. Kerry's calls to various peers and/or heads of state are usually logged as having been made in the State Department daily briefing.
You know what it IS questionable - Netanyahu calling the President elect and getting him to pressure Egypt to withdraw the resolution .. which Egypt VOTED FOR when other countries introduced it.

(85,996 posts)...sad that we'll be debating these issues from the position of refuting Trump's propaganda.
What's amazing to me, as well as the contradictions and bias you point to in your post, is how anti-Jewish the Trump camp and supporters have been. Trump is positioning himself as a friend of Israel, but he's doing little else than coddling and echoing self-loathing, Netanyahu. No two-state approach, no challenging Israel on settlements, etc.
Most of this seems designed to discredit Pres. Obama, something Trump is willing anxious to do, even at the country's expense and peril.
