why residents of NYC vehemently dislike trump

Why do residents of NYC vehemently dislike Trump?

Simple: we know him. We’ve watched his low-class act for too long. We scanned his soul with our hard-won schmuck radar and he’s failed—repeatedly.

One of the formative experiences of moving to New York is, or at least used to be, finding yourself prey for bad people with good lines of talk. The guy who tried and sell you dubiously authentic drugs in Washington Square park, the 3-card monte operators on 14th Street, the street-calloused sexual predators who flocked around the NYU dorms every September hoping to scam some dewy Iowa-born freshman girl into a blowjob—they are all part of New York’s venerable Ganef/Rube ecosystem. If you survive this hazing, you learn to profile every potential perp, con artist and time-waster as a human type: Homo Schmuckius or Homo Griftus respectively. In this schema, Trump is the human equivalent of those counterfeit Rolex watches they try and sell you on Canal Street: glitzy on the outside, cheap and defective on the inside.

This is my experience, having put up with him from 1976-1998.

All you gotta do is buyoff either the Speaker of the Assembly, the Speaker of the Senate or the Governor.

Cuomo had a budget to deal which was more important, as did Koch
Pataki sucked Trump's dick, as did Ghouliani
Then there was the Spitzer/successor bullshit. . .and Bloomberg was just as much a dick sucker as Ghouliani and Pataki

So, now Cuomo the second is doing it.

And not just that, we all know the stories about him hiring illegals, so he doesn't have to pay a union or minimum wage, and will threaten to deport them, if they don't do what they are told.

He's been known to stiff workers (and they're legal) he hires them, has them do the work, then refuses to pay them the agreed amount. Tells them their work wasn't satisfactory, and they can sue him, or they can get paid half of what was promised....that's their choice.

He was known for his bigotry, even sued by the DOJ, for housing and civil rights violations.

His own lawyers have sued him.

While Hillary wrote the first bill to protect our 1st responders, which later became the James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Reauthorization Act, Trump lent no support. Never did anything to help it get passed. Nothing. Only bragged about his building now being the tallest in the city. Never attended one 9/11 Memorial service, or the Museum, until 9/11/16, when he was running for president.

The woman he called a "fat, ugly, pig" Rosie O'Donnell, gave 1 million dollars to the city , the day after the attack. Trump? He complained his businesses got damaged and filed a claim for $152,000. It was later learned this was not true, nothing of his had been damaged.

So sad that people actually fell for and voted for this huckster.

A perfect description of the Trump family if there ever was one.

I was a New Yorker for 12 years and Donald Trump was always looked down upon. He will never be accepted into the NY elite no matter how much money he has or how much power he gains. New Yorkers can spot a poser a mile away. He will never be anything but a joke.

Not old money NY. Big difference. They can buy their way in, but they will always be looked down on. Much the same as the quants on Wall Street being looked down on by the 3rd generation investment bankers.

It's the way he does business, and his complete lack of awareness that stymies. How is he remotely like anything anyone wants in a POTUS?

We seem to be in a self destruct mode. I read people parrot his phrases about our being in decline. Russia is in decline. They want what we have and may well get it thanks to our electoral college that is meant to be a safeguard from a trump.
