The pic in the post was an early A-bomb test.

This is Castle Bravo, and yes, it ran away and exposed many to horrible radiation exposures, including a Japanese fishing boat.

It was the largest bomb ever exploded by the USA, at 15 Mtons. It was supposed to be 5 Mtons. It was a very bad day.
