U.S. Court of Appeals denies injunction that would have halted construction during appeal process
WASHINGTON The U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit on Sunday rejected the Standing Rock Sioux Tribes request for an injunction to halt construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline by Texas-based Energy Transfer Partners. The announcement was made public by the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe in a news release distributed within the past hour on Sunday evening.
The decision comes as the Tribe is pursuing an appeal to stop construction while the rest of the case proceeds in U.S. District Court.

(9,033 posts)the Army Corps of Engineers still requires an environmental impact study before they will grant the easement. I believe this appeal was just one of several methods used to prevent construction of the pipeline.
Whether DAPL will follow the law is another question.
Recently learned something about the brutal tactics used by LE and private security on the scene: they were deliberately trying to provoke a violent response because if they could claim the pipeline was shut down by a "riot", their insurance would have paid for the losses. Mother.Fuckers.
