At 70 and disabled, I often use the Uber car service to get around to appointments or shopping.
But I got an offer from Lyft for ten rides at half price, so yesterday I used them.
I got a driver named Rick who was very talkative about his love for Trump.
It was a short ride but long enough for him to tell me Trump is going to shut down CNN and similar TV channels because all they do is broadcast lies and "Democrat" propaganda.
He didn't say "maybe". He really thinks it'll happen.
Incredible that Trump supporters believe this stuff, and welcome it.
These are the people who voted for, elected, and support the soon to be "Idiot in Chief".
GOD help us!

(14,400 posts)is a quiet Uber or Lyft driver. If I want to talk, I'll start it.
I'd rate him pretty poorly just for not shutting the hell up.

(1,148 posts)They complain about "liberal media" and their choices are things as tepid as CNN.
What scares me is how they have a movement now to distrust ANY mainstream media. They will distrust
anything factual coming from any outlet.
All the while, they have Fox News and talk radio, and they're incapable of acknowledging this.

(4,033 posts)If your driver doesn't understand the gig economy, tis a pity. There will be times when he won't even make minimum wage and all the costs are on him e.g. gas and maintenance on his vehicle.
The only peple making money are owners ofLyft and Uber. Apparently this is okay with your driver & the reason he voted for Trump.
Rate the driver a 1 and email a complaint with Lyft. I once made acomplaint about a passenger who used the "n" word when he ranted about Obama. The passenger was banned from Lyft.

(34,195 posts)Well, he did get me where I was going safely.
Both Uber and Lyft have a rating system of one to five.
With Uber, when I have rated a driver a three they asked for an explanation. (I've only done it twice in about two years)
When I rated this guy a two, the Lyft app accepted it and did not provide an opportunity for any explanation.
I then got online on my laptop, Googled for an email contact for Lyft, and emailed them a complaint.
So far, no response.

(14,854 posts)You have my sympathy.
I damaged my car's suspension when I slid into a tall curb during freezing rain conditions years ago. The tow truck driver that I called hooked up my vehicle and drove me to a dealership.
He was the most extreme racist that I've ever met! I kept my mouth shut because he also bragged about detaching cars of any people he didn't like, and I just wanted to get transported to the damn dealership because my car couldn't be driven with a wheel that was bent that far.
It seemed like it took FOREVER to get there! I couldn't get out of his damn tow truck quick enough!
He also talked about black people on the sides of roads who asked him if he accepted AAA? I didn't understand that comment, but it was like he was implying that ALL black people have AAA and he was happy to yell "No!" and leave them stranded. Whatever. That guy made me want to smash his face.
