I was never that impressed with Luke Russert, but in fairness, because of respect for his dad, he was given positions that he would have done better if he had first been hired for a lower position and given a prominent position if he deserved it.

However, this is 100% on target. No one here could have avoided reading the very cynical articles that try to explain all foreign policy as stealing oil. It also is troubling as the first Gulf war really was all about oil -- as Richard Lugar stated as a non controversial fact at a SFRC hearing in 2009 with Jimmy Carter. He referenced that in doing that, GHWB was following the Carter doctrine that we would protect "our" sources of oil. It was fascinating that not one of the Senators or Carter commented on this. Yet, even now, very few note that that "successful" war really set the course for 911, Afghanistan, Iraq ...... (Think of that the next time that Baker (along with Kissinger are referred to as exceptional Secretaries of State!)

Not to mention - this was not said to a group of Republican stalwarts or to people who backed his campaign. The audience was 100 or so AMBASSADORS from other countries.

Are we going to have 4 years (or ever how long this clown lasts) of ill chosen words? I contrast that with President Obama who chose each word with such utter care and precision because he knew that words matter and EVERY UTTERANCE that comes from the President is weighed and parsed. This boob just spews forth a stream of (un)consciousness that has NO EDITOR...NO FILTER. How screwed up is that??

In fact, going back to the W years, he spoke of "taking the oil" as the payment for "freeing" Iraq.
