2. This is politics for the foreseeable future

24/7 cable news has turned politics into a spectator sport with 2 teams. It's all MY TEAM all the time. For Republicans, their team sucks...demonstrably, but it is still their team.

Ask any...say JETS fan how this works. Are they going to start rooting for the PATRIOTS? Not a chance.

3. Part of the problem was our candidate.

The last two elections we put up good ol boy John Gregg. An old school blue dog who ran the usual "I'll work with both sides" and "I'm a fiscal conservative" nonsense that Democrats always run here. Obama won here in 2008, but Clinton, Evan Bayh and John Gregg had zero chance to raise turnout the way Obama did. It's frustrating that our party continues to believe that Republican-lite can get elected here. Joe Donnelly fits that mold, but he only won because he ran against a man who said God wants you to get raped. Yet the party apparatus assumes it was because he was appealing to conservatives.
