And the baby is still breastfeeding!
I first heard about this on a blog, but then I found this article:
http://www.dallasnews.com/news/donald-trump-1/2017/01/29/inside-legal-war-room-behind
The names of detainees were written on a whiteboard. Among them: An 11-month-old girl named Jude who was born in this country, whose mother the attorneys were told they couldn't talk to.
"She's a U.S. citizen," said Angela Hunt, a former Dallas City Council member. "A [expletive] U.S. citizen."
At one point, they began discussing whether to give the event a hashtag. They debated some options: "Free the Baby," referring to Jude. Or "DFW Detain," suggested lawyer Pete Schulte. Or "Free Baby Jude," someone else said. "That'll pull the heartstrings."
An hour later, word came down that Jude and her mother had been freed. The room erupted. A few minutes later, the airport tweeted that some detainees had been released. Another round of cheers and applause.

Scary Mommy also shared Facebook messages from lawyer Andrew Strong, who was personally handling the case. He explains that he was not being given updates to the child's welfare and that the child's father was being denied access as well. In his blow-by-blow account, he mentions filing a TRO (temporary restraining order) and adds that the "person working the desk has covered her name badge." After nearly an hour apart, Strong posted that the mother and child were reunited, thanks to an assist from the ACLU.
Sources are still unclear about the family's status and Dass adds that "their future in the U.S. is uncertain." She implores those who see her post to get involved: "Please call, email, tweet, and visit your local, state, and national representatives and tell them THIS IS WRONG."

The child is breastfeeding and is being denied access to her mother.
At the Dallas-Fort Worth airport on Saturday, a mother from Sudan who is a legal permanent resident was separated from her 11-month-old U.S. born baby. Her child, who is still breastfeeding, was denied access to her mother for hours while attorneys fought to keep her from being deported. Let that sink in for a moment. A mother was physically separated from her child, unable to feed or comfort her for hours. During that time, the mother was being detained alone, likely uncertain of her future in the U.S., a country where she is a legal resident.

(12,634 posts)breastfeeding in the Dallas News article. Just "detention". Sounds like both were detained.

(108,995 posts)while the baby and mother were detained. They were both detained, but not together -- just like a five year old and mother. Why they found it necessary to separate mothers and small children is never explained.

(108,995 posts)-- while he was drafting a restraining order -- said the baby was breastfeeding, and the baby was being kept from the mother (and the father, too.)

(7,257 posts)I searched him out. He's listed as an attorney at Barber Law Firm, TX (won't post his other details here as I'm not sure it's allowed by the forum TOS).

Of course, some RWA followers are eager to do awful despicable things and seek the cover of their leader's orders.

(13,058 posts)has been covered on the local WFAA ABC affiliate channel 8 here & has been tremendous. Yesterday all 9 people detained were released thanks to their efforts. We need strong united people as these & strong Dems leaders as mayor Rawlings to run for office. i'm hoping he will run for TX governor in the next election.
