If YOU Build It
… WE WILL come.
If any mainstream TV network is willing to take on Trump, we will support you.
If you refuse to invite any and all Trump/GOP talking heads on your programs to spout their “alternate facts”, we will watch.
If you consistently fact-check statements made by Trump, Spicer, Conway, etc., and point out their lies, we will listen.
If you refuse to attend Trump’s so-called press conferences, speeches, appearances, and that of his surrogates, you will have our full attention.
If you steadfastly refuse to be intimidated by threats of non-access to Trump and his band of excuse-making liars, we will be steadfast in our support of your courage.
If you cover all anti-Trump protests here and abroad, and opine on the negative impact of his policies on our citizens and on our global neighbours, we will applaud you.
If you devote your airtime to investigating and exposing the illegalities of the Trump administration’s behaviour, and the unsavoury backgrounds of those who act to “advise on” and encourage that behaviour, we will stand with you.
Who are “WE”?
WE are the people who opposed Trump’s presidency; in other words, WE are the majority of the citizenry.
WE are the people who are marching in the streets, protesting at airports, raising our voices – and WE are not going away.
More importantly, WE are the people who are armed with remote-controls – and we are dangerous. WE can tune you in or shut you out. WE are the people who determine the size of your audience share, your ratings, and ultimately the monetary value of the advertising dollars that pay your salaries and keep you on-the-air.
Make no mistake. WE already represent more than half of the populace, and OUR numbers are growing. Every drop in Trump’s approval ratings represents the fact that the anti-Trump movement is gaining members, while Trump supporters are dwindling.
So here’s a chance for the news media to take a stand, and be rewarded for doing so with higher ratings, more valuable ad time – and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to prove that you are real journalists and not just babbling bobbleheads who go along to get along.
So build it, and WE will come. WE will increase your audience share, WE will spread the word that you are the network worth watching, WE will encourage our comrades-in-arms to tune you in rather than tune you out.
If you have our backs, WE will have yours.
