Now is not the time to be in military service because you are likely to end up on a suicide mission by the incompetent fools. We were lucky that this operation did not end up in total disaster. We could have lost the entire SEAL team based on what we know about the firefight.

Trump is reckless and already indicating he probably plans to send combat forces into Syria and maybe Iraq again. So if you are in the National Guard you might just find yourself in the desert somewhere. And you might not even know your mission or will be on one that will get you killed.

They were in danger of being pinned down and captured. And I am sure the real truth about the operation would shock the citizenry. We did not have proper intelligence and we did not have an adequate force. Except for their superior ability and tactics we could have lost the entire operation.

2. All Trump voters should sign up voluntarily. THEY voted for this clusterf*ck of a 'president'. THEY

that enlisting is the best way to show their support of their hero.

But they'd probably mostly wash out of basic training anyway.

4. Interesting thought

We could have lost an entire SEAL team.

Sure, that would have been a loss. But when you look at the Trump flag flying on a SEAL convoy in the US, it's kind of hard to be completely sympathetic. In my view, they are no longer part of the US military. They are on a personal and religious crusade at the direction of Der Drumpfenfuhrer.

5. The Only Thing That Saved The Team Was Their Superior Tactics.

The team's ability to cover itself and maintain its position against larger numbers were its training. They needed time for air cover and extraction to help them. Had the air cover not have been fairly close they could have been captured.

They just got lucky. The operation must have taken a couple of hours on the ground.

I also worry because the military is an option for young people who can't afford or don't want to go to college. It is also an option when many towns have low level jobs available and not much else.

We could (in theory, not under this president obviously) have more options for national service. My son just got back home last summer from service in the Peace Corps. Great experience and actual help and not destruction in other places in the world. Bernie's infrastructure bill would cost less in lives and money than a war. Except the rich would have to pitch in and not profit and they ain't going for that when they want money and the "glory" of war.
