Veterans: Dakota Access Pipeline 'Will Not Get Completed'

A group of U.S. military veterans has vowed to block completion of the hotly disputed Dakota Access pipeline, despite the secretary of the Army giving the project the green light.

"We are committed to the people of Standing Rock, we are committed to nonviolence, and we will do everything within our power to ensure that the environment and human life are respected. That pipeline will not get completed. Not on our watch," said Anthony Diggs, a spokesman for Veterans Stand.

Diggs added that the group hopes to raise enough funds "to have a larger, solid boots-on-the-ground presence."

The secretary of the Army instructed the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to grant Energy Transfer Partners the easement it needs to complete the final stretch of its $3.7 billion pipeline, Sen. John Hoeven and Rep. Kevin Cramer, both of North Dakota, said Tuesday. President Donald Trump last week signed executive actions to advance construction for Dakota Access and another disputed pipeline.

Wes Clark, Jr., who led the first mission, said at the time:

“We’re not going out there to get in a fight with anyone. They can feel free to beat us up, but we’re 100% nonviolence.”

Don't be put off by the terminology used. They call it a mission, send out information in military operations order format, and use other military terms.

There should be hundreds of articles on the early December action, but I can only find the one below, grrrr

Wesley Clark and Michael Wood Jr. put together a group of 2,000 veterans to go to Standing Rock Dec. 4-7 and protect the water protectors...the plan was that the vets would stand peacefully between the protectors and the police and mercs...period.

Well, by God, the DAY they arrived, there was a killer blizzard. the cops stood down, the vets turned into 4,000 instead of 2,000, the final permit was withheld, and it was quite a moving sight and celebration!!!

Article:
(ANTIMEDIA) In early December, many Americans celebrated the Army Corps of Engineers decision to withhold a final permit for the Dakota Access Pipeline, a project that drew ongoing demonstrations from native Standing Rock Sioux “water protectors,” environmentalists, and other activists.

The Corps decision, which effectively halted construction, at least temporarily, until an environmental impact assessment could be conducted, coincided with the arrival of thousands of U.S. military veterans to the camp. They had vowed to defend protesters from heavily militarized and aggressive police, as well as to prevent construction on the pipeline itself.

...and yes, there could indeed be a fight, and that's why the vets want to be there, to take the brunt of any rubber bullets, water cannons, attack dogs ETC aimed at peaceful water protectors -

Most people think great God will come from the sky
Take away ev'rything, and make ev'rybody feel high
But if you know what life is worth
You would look for yours on earth
And now you see the light
You stand up for your right, yeah!

Get up, stand up, stand up for your right
Get up, stand up, don't give up the fight
Get up, stand up. Life is your right
So we can't give up the fight
Stand up for your right, Lord, Lord
Get up, stand up. Keep on struggling on
Don't give up the fight

We're sick and tired of your ism and skism game
Die and go to heaven in Jesus' name, Lord
We know when we understand
Almighty God is a living man
You can fool some people sometimes
But you can't fool all the people all the time
So now we see the light
We gonna stand up for our right

We all know removing Native Americans is a non-issue for Trump's government, but arresting veterans is not so easy. Standing Rock's people cannot do this on their own, but together they can stand up to Twitler.

my area have been there at least three times each, including some of our more famous residents. I can't go as part of my housing agreement requires me to be home at night. For me, housing is essential and my first priority since I'm too old to be moving a lot and acceptable + affordable housing is really hard to come by here.
