I know Cal-Exit is a FANTASY but Drumpf's America is a dark, dystopian place.

I had to go to the Target at the Mall to pick up my Lisinopril. I saw people of all races, religions, nationalities, and gender orientations getting along. I am bound to people by ideals, not by blood and soil. I have more in common with a random Canadaian than I do with a random Deplorable.

I never felt so alienated from many of my fellow Americans, not during the Reagan years and not during the Bush years.

Drumpf and the Deplorables are turning America into a dystopian mess with their emphasis on whiteness. I never felt special because I was white or liked a person more or less because he or she was white.

1. Hypothetically assuming there was enough internal support...

Even if there was enough internal support within California, which I doubt there is, wouldn't an attempt to exit the union possibly trigger civil war? There is no mechanism in place to do so. And the last time states tried to secesed from the union was the civil war. Granted that was to maintain slavery and this would be for a good purpose, but the same question holds as to what would happen.

2. That's why it's a FANTASY.

But I have more in common with you than I could ever have with a Trump voter. We are more divided than at any time in our history including the Civil War.

3. If it ever came to that (and I don't think it will)

it wouldn't be California alone. It would probably be California, Oregon and Washington acting together. Might throw Nevada in there if they keep trending democratic.

But it's not going to happen. It's same with all the talk of Texas leaving the union...too much federal maoney at stake.

7. I wonder if the people in Trump's cabal know how divisive he is.

If I tried hard enough I could find things to like about Reagan and the Bushes. There is nothing likable about Drumpf.

they live in their own bubble that doesn't deal in the reality of what 99% of Americans face everyday.

trump has surrounded himself with staff that fully condones his bully behavior. I don't think there is one sane person that serves at the "pleasure of the president". And I include Mattis and Kelly...why would they serve such a destructive person?

10. Agreed. And as I will not cease to point out, the leader of Calexit has an address in San Diego BUT

....his headquarters are in Russia. It doesn't take a genius to see Putin's malign hand in yet another attempt to divide this nation -- this time, literally.

the loss of California and its bright blue 55 electoral votes would almost certainly condemn the rest of the national to perpetual fascist rule.

16. That's exactly why the Pukes might just let Calif go if we decided to.

With Cali gone, they would have perpetual control of the White House.

But it's highly unlikely. An accumulation of bizarro wingnut stuff might eventually make it happen. We have a high percentage of immigrants and minorities who will have targets on them, both figuratively and literally. One thing that I can see possibly becoming a tipping point is when (not if) they decide to make open carry a nationwide mandate in every public place.

15. Putin likes sex. Does that mean Californians should be against having it?

Look, it's a fantasy, but we have more in common with say, Canada, than we have in common with say, Mississippi.

My girlfriend is from the Philippines. She and her girlfriend also from the Philippines drove from California to Florida. She said when they stopped to eat in Alabama folks at the restaurant looked at them like they were from Mars.
