I don't understand all the hashtags, etc. either, but I do enjoy how brilliant some of those tweeters are.

When they're good, anyway. Like any sources for posts here, some are better than others.

But, if we're sharing pet peeves, I'd like to see fewer OPs, accomplished by cutting down on ones repeating the topics of currently posted OPs and ones that would make senses as a replies to OPs or other replies, resulting in more discussion and community between DUers.

DU skews pretty old, demographically.

We can fight it or embrace it, but the future comes either way.

I don't tweet, but learned to check feeds during this miserable last year - some days, I just would not make it without the laughs they can bring!!!

I go here, it's one of the sites listing top ten trends:

https://trends24.in/united-states/

Then, if I have ANY clue what the topic is, I might click and get a tad of info...all those hastags and blah blah, I have no idea who is talking to whom most of the time!! - but there are MANY times when I'm laughing my butt off - what a clever, funny people we are!!! Frederick Douglass, Bowling Green Massacre - omg! - - - DON'T FORGET to hit the "refresh" icon on the upper right of page when applicable!

In addition to checking those latest trends, I have this tiny library I have bookmarked and check regularly:

I go here for updates on Standing Rock:

https://mobile.twitter.com/search?q=%23NODAPL&prev_cursor=TWEET-805349416324435968-805472221846261762-BD1UO2FFu9QAAAAAAAAETAAAAAcAAAASAAAQAAAAAAAAIAAAAAAAAAAAAIAAAAAgAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAABAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAEAAAAIAAAAAAAEAAAAAIQAAAAhSAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACAAAQAAgAAAAAgAAAAABAAAAAAAAAAAAg

And also here - Ruth Hopkins, Indian Country Today writer:

https://mobile.twitter.com/RuthHHopkins?p=s

----- Masha Gessen, brilliant Russian writer who knows from agonizing personal experience exactly what we're going through these days - she links her (very timely) articles; just click them and read if you so desire:

https://mobile.twitter.com/mashagessen?lang=en

----- Malcolm Nance, Intel guy - does commentary on msnbc a lot:

https://mobile.twitter.com/MalcolmNance

-----And for fun, the "Paul Ryan Gosling" account!! - all his tweets start with "Hey, girl", a la Gosling characters:

https://mobile.twitter.com/PaulRyanGosling?p=s

Enjoy or not, as you see fit, m'dear!

If I open a post and see a bunch of twitter links, I just close it before any can load. Not missing much.
