(36,486 posts)I wish I could locate a link to the story, but basically, the newly minted Governor-elect took a road trip to recharge his batteries after his grueling campaign, and happened past the Tassajara Zen Center in Big Sur. He knocked on the door, curious about what was going on, but was told the place was not open to the public. After talking a bit, the members learned he was the Governor-elect and smiled, telling him there were required, by tradition, by custom, by law, to admit government officials to the premises. They graciously hosted him, and he developed a close relationship with Tassajara that continues to this day.
