Plan ahead. Nobody else comes close. Elizabeth Warren: "There is nobody in this country who got rich on his own""You built a factory out there? Good for you... But I want to be clear:
you moved your goods to market on the roads the rest of us paid for;
you hired workers the rest of us paid to educate;
you were safe in your factory because of police forces and fire forces that the rest of us paid for."
"You didn't have to worry that marauding bands would come and seize everything at your factory, and hire someone to protect against this, because of the work the rest of us did."

(1,055 posts)I see no way for her to win nationally.
In fact, after 2012 I suspect neither party will be nominating a candidate from Massachusetts for a very long time.

(34,589 posts)People are generally very nice to one-another here. In most other parts of the country, politics is blood sport.
So when a Bay State politician is generally unprepared to run against, say, a Southerner. Our politicians are usually flummoxed by a street fight and get the crap beat out of them.
I believe that Ms. Warren is different. Looking at how she's gone after scoundrels like Timmy Geithner:
Patrick McHenry:
and the Morning Joke crowd:
I take her at her word that she'll leave blood and teeth on the floor. And she will win.
Perhaps it's because she wasn't born and raised in MA.
Brigid
(17,621 posts)That's what makes her different. I wish I could vote for her in November. I look forward to voting for her for President -- in 2016, I hope.

Rmoney isn't really from MA anyways. I don't think that counts.
Oh, and I know that she could lose, that was an exaggeration.

Yes, duh, she has to be a senator first, thus the 2016 qualifier.
I worry that a couple responders didn't catch the "2016 distinction from 2012.

(2,397 posts)...deregulation of banks legislation? Or someone who deregulated the airwaves with the Communications Act? Not me. He gave us a good economy and surplus, but F'd up all the radio and TV stations. THis is why only 6 conglomerates own every fucking station that spews out this R-W filth. Air America would still be on if he hadn't signed that legislation. I'll never forgive him for that.

(37,305 posts)Reading posts like yours turned me into a moderate as I pondered what would happen if ideas like yours were the prevailing ones. That's when I realized I don't think it would work. What we have isn't perfect, but it produces innovations that drive our economy. I don't see how that happens when there isn't the ability to make a profit.

(34,589 posts)who was, until recently, polling as the most popular politician in the Commonwealth. I think that's pretty awesome.
And given that:
1. the debates have not started yet, in which she'll surely incinerate Scotty, and
2. Democrats have not really started spotlighting Brown's appalling voting record
I think Ms. Warren is in the catbird seat and will win by a wide margin. I guess we'll find out in November!

(68,644 posts)It's remarkable to read some of the comments upthread that people seem to think there's even time to wait for a great candidate to be vetted through one or two additional four-year cycles!
I don't have that kind of time. Do you?
Zorra
(27,670 posts)we definitely don't have that kind of time.
A candidate can have a thirty year career as a federal legislator, and not even come close to having the comprehensive, necessary qualities for Executive leadership that Elizabeth possesses.
I've donated to her 4 times, and will do so again shortly.

(31,270 posts)"The Great Liberal Hope" that some people believe she is. She'll soon find out that she has no wiggle room for compromise, or she'll be called a "caver". She'll also find out how quickly fans become enemies once she's elected. She'll have to pacify the far left, while trying not to alienate moderates. It's not as simple as it sounds. And while I'm elated that she's caught up to Brown, it's Teddy's old seat, ferchrissakes. The president is running ahead of Rmoney by double digits, while she has struggled. What's that about?
If she's the nominee, she has certainly has my vote, but I'd like to see if Cuomo gets in.

She sucks up to AIPAC, lies about Iran, and opposes Palestinian rights.
There's almost no mention about any national security / foreign policy that would benefit the US at her web site:
