to make a call now and then to a head of state. In the call, he tells that person how great Trump is and complains about issues with that country's relationship with the US and with Trump. There's no give and take. Instead, Trump fancies himself the most powerful leader of the most powerful country on the planet. So he tells these other heads of state what they should do and listens to nothing.
He is trying to bully our allies, just as he bullies everyone else. What he doesn't realize is that every head of state believes him or herself to be a competent leader of an important nation. They don't take well to being told what they must do by a moron who happens to be President of the United States.
Trump is engaged in anti-diplomacy and has no clue about how to be a statesman. His lack of diplomatic skills is why he has no real allies in the business community, as well. It is why he cannot find competent people to join his staff, too. He surrounds himself with toadies or ambitious people willing to pretend to be his ally while they pursue their own goals.
Trump is incompetent at the high level to which he has now risen. And his incompetence is massive at that level. I see no hope for improvement. I see no bright, thoughtful people in line to join his staff. He will simply be a reactive President, waiting for a crisis. Then, in the face of a crisis, he will do exactly the wrong thing and exacerbate the crisis, rather than calming it down.
There will be no useful initiatives coming from the Trump White House. Only bad decisions made in reaction to negative events.

(146,307 posts)He's already pissed of Australia, Germany and France by issuing orders rather than having a conversation about mutual concerns. He's persona non grata at the British Parliament, something that is unprecedented. His blundering, imperious style makes him nothing but enemies, which is why he also has no strong business allies. He has screwed over everyone he has done business with and now he's trying to screw over our international allies.
He is, in a word, a fuckwit.

(7,432 posts)agreement with Trumpy. No one can trust him.
If they do, they're fools. But they all should know by now that they CAN take advantage of him because he's an easy mark. Putin knows this. He can be sweet-talked (or blackmailed) into just about anything, but the problem with doing so is that Trumpy won't keep those sweet nothings a secret. He loves the adulation so much, he just has to share it with the world. So the more likely result of Trumpy's gullibility is for foreign leaders to just lay off and NOT be embarrassed by Trumpy's tendency to gush.
The big problems with Trumpy are on the horizon, because the US' enemies are in the planning stages for attacks that will have the desired effect of getting a predictable reaction from him. Since Trumpy is SO predictable when he's offended, adversaries are designing "offenses" that will manipulate Trumpy into focusing on specified targets for retaliation. All of this will be controlled by adversaries, because, frankly, nearly everyone who plays on this kind of stage is worlds smarter than Trumpy. If they want the US to attack a specific part of the globe at a specific time, they can design an attack that will yield the result they desire. THIS is the big danger with Trumpy. And it's big.
Trumpy's not very bright. He behaves emotionally first and always. He'll attack without considering the consequences two or three events in advance. He's done this already, several times, and he's endangering the lives of the military in Iraq right now. And he'll do it again. And again. He doesn't control himself, and there's no one who can control him. We're fucked.
