4. 7 states have raised gas taxes as of 1/1/2017, yeoman6987. That's not 'a lot' as you put it.

Fake news from you.

This is real news:

That is hardly enough to drive up prices nationwide.

You in fact ARE giving him cover in my opinion.

Your definition of "a lot" is... most convenient to particular narratives.

Democrats took oil execs to task, I remember when one oil exec lied about not being on Cheney energy task force and there was talk about further investigations... the price of oil and gas dropped.

Now without someone to keep them in check, without someone to call them out when they make lame excuses like "But the environmentalists are being mean to us multinational corporations with senators on speed dial... and THAT is why we are forced to make gas so expensive", this just means they are free to make gas as expensive as they want.

Great job, Trump voters.

In the last 2 years it has fallen by 50%!

From near $100 to around $50 a barrel

Is that slightly?

6. Down considerably here

$1.75 this morning ($1.73 in a few places not on my route in).

Gas prices are not stable enough to judge based on a few days. You have to take the average over time. Within the same time frame, gas has also been $2.03 at the same stations.

State average is $2.05

Currently LOWER that the $2.25 when I filled up the car in July, ( the car I don't drive very much at all anymore).

since it's the only way to limit the amount of damage done in terms of emissions and such what with his administration's idiotic denial of science on climate change.

13. To be fair, gas prices are never a reliable indicator of economic health.

They've been low at times when our economy is in good shape and low when our economy is in the dumps.

I exclude gas prices as a barometer of how well economic policies are being implemented in the country. There are just too many variables.

That being said, if gas prices are high, people do tend to get upset, and they'll blame the president, even if he has nothing to do with them.

15. Not really. For the past few years the gas prices near me have stayed between $1.70 - $2.10

Mostly hanging out in the $1.70's and $1.80's. Right now it's about $1.75ish. Last month it went up into the $2 range but dropped back down. I actually thought was going to be the start of it rising up again because I recall something about an OPEC deal to cut back on production.
