Alabama Senator Jeff Sessions was confirmed as Attorney General in a nearly party-line vote by Republicans this past Thursday. His first act as head of the Justice Department was as deplorable as we feared, indicating that the government will be actively discriminating against LGBTQ people, disenfranchising minorities and rolling back American civil rights

With the stroke of a pen, Jeff Sessions’ “so-called” Justice Department called off a hearing meant to uphold laws preventing transgendered bathroom discrimination in 38 states from staying in force indefinitely while landmark litigation slowly works its way through the court system.

President Obama’s DOJ issued rules protecting the rights of transgender students; twelve states sued to block it. The cancelled hearing was planning to argue that the rules should still apply to the 38 remaing states.

The GOVERNMENT is full of Majority lead Republicans, who can STAND on an Unconstitutional statement and ALLOW this to go forth as SUCH. I am not sure how far this can go, but there have been some nations who have executed Gays and Lesbians in the Past.

This is a horrible thought to anyone, who might be gay, bisexual (Such as myself) Lesbian, or Trans-gendered. 22. One expects an extremist right-wing government

to dismantle protections against discrimination. This particular issue at least affects incredibly few people in very limited ways, and those are used to dealing with these problems and will continue to deal with them until the majority who are on their side can restore these legal rights.

I'm saving my "sick" for all the people who are going to be kidnapped away from their lives, imprisoned in holding camps, and then deported to strange countries they may never even have visited or barely remember. And other similar atrocity-level actions. Even one innocent person railroaded into prison by corrupt prosecutors served by corrupt investigators is far too many.

But above all I am sick about what it will do to our nation. I feel as if we should put the Statue of Liberty in storage until we are once again worthy to display her.
