Trump's delivered statement on North Korea differed from the printout of intended statement

There's been a lot of comment on what's been seen as a very subdued and brief statement from Trump following Japanese Prime Minister Abe's remarks on the North Korean test this evening. Trump said:

I just want everybody to understand and fully know that the United States of America stands behind Japan, its great ally, one hundred percent. Thank you.

Judging by a sheet headed "POTUS REMARKS" an aide was carrying that was caught by a Reuters photographer, it looks like it was intended that he make a much longer and more detailed statement:

Sourced from this Twitter thread:

Reuters photog captured White House aide holding “POTUS remarks” document that differs from what Trump said alongside Abe

Why didn't Trump deliver the statement as written? From what I can decipher, it doesn't seem to be particularly controversial. This may not be significant, but it seems a little strange.

NORAD released this statement:

It describes the launch as "a medium- or intermediate-range missile," which bears out the transcript, which reads: "The missile's trajectory was inconsistent with that of an ICBM."

To the press. Maybe they meant it?

To state the obvious, Reuters is a global news organization that reports independently and fairly in more than 100 countries, including many in which the media is unwelcome and frequently under attack. I am perpetually proud of our work in places such as Turkey, the Philippines, Egypt, Iraq, Yemen, Thailand, China, Zimbabwe, and Russia, nations in which we sometimes encounter some combination of censorship, legal prosecution, visa denials, and even physical threats to our journalists. We respond to all of these by doing our best to protect our journalists, by recommitting ourselves to reporting fairly and honestly, by doggedly gathering hard-to-get information – and by remaining impartial. We write very rarely about ourselves and our troubles and very often about the issues that will make a difference in the businesses and lives of our readers and viewers.

We don’t know yet how sharp the Trump administration’s attacks will be over time or to what extent those attacks will be accompanied by legal restrictions on our news-gathering. But we do know that we must follow the same rules that govern our work anywhere, namely:

they committed to doing journalism.

Good catch, and a promising commitment from them.

I'm heartened, because a few years ago I was finding them growingly unreliable - quite important given how they feed into syndication.

Its weird that he added a "Thank you", like an afterthought, to the end of his tweet. Why does he do that? It makes him look like some little kid that had to read his poem in class and said "Thank you" to indicate he was done.

be told what to say every step of the way. This took him and HIS STAFF (which are only a shade above him in mental aptitude and knowledge about government affairs) by surprise and they were not prepared in anyway to make a knowledge-based decision.

They dangerous for our nation, dangerous for the world.

The only thing that 45 is good at is blow-hard bullying and speaking convincingly to the basket of deplorables.

We were warned, but too many thought it cute to not vote for her.
