I wasn't able to go (my husband had planned to, but was sick)
These photos are lifted from a friend on fb who did attend. You really get a feel for the diversity of the crowd.
Lots of issues were represented from women's rights to health care (they asked health professionals to wear white coats) to BLM to refugees to social justice to...
Apparently, it was the most well attended march on Raleigh ever held.
And the story from the local Raleigh paper about the march.

(31,410 posts)He's only one of three Democratic Congressman left in the NC delegation thanks to the Republican gerrymandering.
Prior to the gerrymandering, the 13 member delegation was usually split pretty evenly--either 7 to 6 Dems or 7 to 6 Repubs.
After the gerrymandering, it's now 10 Repubs and 3 Dems. Yet, if you look at the total votes--Dems to Repubs--across the state
in Congressional elections, the ratio from the last election should be 7 Repubs to 6 Dems.

(28,816 posts)were all there are. i cannot figure out how to get a picture from my phone to DU so they're mostly on my fb and still in my phone. i haven't found a news source yet that provided a number. but we were toward the back of the march and i did not see the people in these pictures.
if there's a simple way to get a picture from a phone to DU, tell me about it please and i will share. Otherwise I have to upload, put in photobucket, and post that way. only way i know how.
and there were many great signs.

(31,410 posts)but that no longer works.
I don't use a camera phone--just cameras--so I always have to upload to photobucket first.
You might ask the question in the photography group to see if anyone has an easy answer http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=forum&id=1036
(I've tried copying the URL from a facebook photo and pasting here, but it doesn't work.)

(51,076 posts)to your email addy, then save to computer. Open one of several photo hosting web sites, (tinypic.com,) and upload the photo. copy the proper URL and paste that in the body of your message and viola, there is the photo for all of us to see.
Peace
In my contacts I have my email address to make things easier

(28,816 posts)i use photobucket. but it's really time consuming!
i'm thinking maybe i can upload directly to my computer and skip the emailing part, but then i will still have to upload to the computer and then to photobucket.
so the cool thing about the phone is i can send them straight to fb. i can now also save them to the computer from fb and then upload to photobucket.
but there's no straight to DU. that's what i want!

(15,563 posts)So many great signs. I love "I'll trade trump for refugees". LOL
I also like the Duke med school grads - 60% women sign. It reminded me that now there are more women in med school, law school etc. than men, and from my experience of working at a university and a law school, they are usually better students than the men.
Thank you for the pics.

(67,832 posts)I ask about the arrests because the Jan 21 march in DC was AT LEAST a half million people and NOT ONE SINGLE ARREST. I see this as important as is the fact that there are marches. Women are leading these efforts.
Women, this is YOUR time.

(31,410 posts)Some of the Moral Monday folks do get arrested when they protest at the Legislature...but it's for civil disobedience, not violence of any kind.
