I think it gives morons a bad name, actually. A moron would not purposely do something that harms people for profit, for instance.

I am using it in that sense. It merely describes a stupid person without good reasoning skills. It's often misspelled as "moran" by the very people it describes, as well.

It is not an official descriptor of any particular mental deficiency and so is not an insult to any class of people.

who choose to surround him for profit are just despicable, unpatriotic criminals.

I never spent much time thinking about who is a patriot and who is not. I knew that people who liked to see wars as long as they dont have to fight in them were not (Limbaugh, Hannity, Cheney and on and on, the important distinction is or was Bill Clinton was anti war)

But now it seems as if finding a patriot, i.e. someone willing to put country over party, is almost impossible in the GOP.
