DU-ers take a third. Which part of the country shall we call ours? Do we get the mountains or a coast? What should we name it?

That would mean we would divide the country longitudinally and all three countries will have two coastlines and three time zones. That's not confusing. Not at all.

I think this needs serious consideration.

I've said this before and have been dismissed.

But intereSt is growing in this idea. Some gave dismissed it because of constitutional issues. Others because the current travesty is temporary.

Recent commentary has focused on following California's lead. I really would like to see something from intelligent people about the possibilities, options, process, etc.

The very real reality is that red and blue will never again find room for compromise. We just see the world very differently. So maybe it's time to at least set the thinking, if not the actual wheels, in motion.

But also consider that the docket unionsr rolled into multiple states and had its influence reduced in its satellite states. Ok, that was in less then 100 years. The British empire is now England, Scotland (barely) and wales. Things change.

It will be a very interesting development with the Calexit process underway. If any state could start this process of splitting up America, it would be California.

I would guess that Oregon and Washington would join them next and merge as one country. British Columbia has been invited too join them (in theory).

I don't think America can ever come together again. Dems and repubs are completely different countries now.

That a peaceful Balkanization may be the best thing for us at this point.

I am a fierce believer in the right to self determination. And if a group of whites want a all white nation, or some Christian theocracy, maybe its best we peacefully divorce before real bloodshed.

I also believe the same goes for all peoples religions and creeds. A black gentleman I used to work with was a very proud black nationalist, he was tired of his people suffering the yoke of racism which resulted in oppressive measures and senseless violence against black youth in particular. He believed that he and his had the right to self determination, even if that meant the freedom from diversity.

I wanted to argue at first, but then I had to come to agree with him, who am I to tell him his people don't deserve freedom from such atrocity?

Two years so that conservatives can move east and liberals move West. We get Texas and would need to send a lot of jerks east from Texas. We lose the eastcoast, but can develop everything we loose out West, even better.

Actually, I think we would be several countries. New England is nice but there are differences with us.
At some point in the 21st century we will have a single world government, but with separation we could incubate democracy.
