Mother Nature can be cruel. Case in point: A tree near Pittsburgh that had been the home to a pair of bald eagles came crashing down Sunday night, taking their newly-laid egg with it.
The Audubon Society of Western Pennsylvanias live eagle cam caught the event as a windy storm rolled through Hays, Pa. The tree swayed violently in the wind before toppling. The eagle on the nest at the time, apparently the mother, took flight as the nest went down with the tree and the egg that she had just laid Friday. ... Both of the eagles were
spotted Monday in fine shape, albeit homeless for now. The Audubon Society expects this pair to nest again immediately.
The birds are not upset like we are. Its not even in the birds brain, Bob Mulhivill, an ornithologist at the National Aviary,
told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Their complete reaction was, Oops, lets start again, or, Lets not work on it anymore. The amazing thing is, theres no remorse, sadness and no depression. They wont take the week off.
You might remember this pair from headlines in 2016 when they
caught and fed a cat to their young eaglets in April. The Audubon Society reminded their views that nature isnt always kind or pretty.
