Based on article at Daily Kos the Heritage Foundation funded by the Koch brothers has major influence in pushing major cuts in the FEMA budget. Their model would save $10.5 trillion over 10 years. The Heritage model would shift costs of recovery to the states and individuals.
So if you get flattened by a tornado you are on your own. If a flood devastates you you are on you own. Traditional FEMA aid may be absent.
Well the red states will find out how their vote matters. And we also see that the Koch's probably own the GOP and Congress. Oligarchy is officially our government.

(5,269 posts)Passing expenses on to states would cause most states to raise sales taxes and fees, part of Repubs love of shifting burden of costs and taxes away from wealthier onto everyone else.
