I'm not a betting woman, but if I was I would say that the Republicans are

going to sit on their hands where congressional investigations or impeach proceedings are concerned and let the Democrats take the lead. Then, if heads roll, a few of them will shore up the Democrats voting to censor or criminally investigate or impeach. That leaves the majority of Republican Congress critters free of any blowback from Trump's base in the white Midwest, who used to vote Democratic. Trump captured those people. The GOP doesn't want to lose them by taking the lead on taking on the Trump White House. Just a guess.

They are trying to figure out the math on pissing off the Trump voting white supremist vote and the uninformed 10% of Americans that decide the winners and losers of each election based on the small amount of information that filters down to them.

'safe' to vote against Trump and let them help do the dirty work. They want rid of Trump as much as we do, but for different reasons. But we all agree that he is nuts.

what scandal or treason is going on. They don't fear massive protests or constituent calls flooding their offices calling for reason or being taken down in the general election. The only thing they fear is being primaried by someone even further to the right than they are and the rabid low information Trump supporters and far-right money that will support a challenge to their position if they are seen as heretics to the cause. We need to face the fact that nothing will change that equation and that Dems must plan and execute their strategy accordingly.
