A diversion to take the heat off from treason? Maybe along the lines of a new executive order regarding a Muslim ban?

(15,237 posts)Over two hundred years of American wars over naval conflicts real and imagined. Why anyone is stupid enough to attack a naval vessel flying the United States flag is beyond me. Trump is itching for a fight.

But, that's history. This is now.

(15,237 posts)After the Spanish American war they examined the ship and towed it out to sea and sunk it. Probably an explosion from coal dust. In spite of taking pictures the cause was listed unknown causes for an internal explosion.

(11,860 posts)I fell like the only way they can effectively knee-cap this runaway investigation and the news orgs. is to crash the internet.
I find it passing strange that there has been focus on the Russia Intelligence Ship trolling the east coast.
The speed of this investigation is in direct proportion to the speed of the transfer of information on the net. take down the net and slow down the investigation. The bonus for the White House is that they would also knee CAP the resistance.
I have absolutely nothing to back up this hunch, but I am a fiction writer, and I guess this is the way I think.
People far smarter than I have been rushing to back up research materials for months now, and not just to keep it from being erased by the Trump admin... but, I suspect, to keep it safe in case of a massive cyber attack.
My suggestion... back up your hard drive today, old school... hard copy.

(15,237 posts)Look what occupies the White House. The perfect crime is one no knows was committed. The perfect war is one no one knows has been fought and lost. We lost the war because Congress would not agree to fight it and is squarely the blame of Republicans and other traitors.

(6,355 posts)A new EO might be big news but it doesn't reach deep down and touch our "we're all in this together" nerve. When I think BIG, it scares me that President Bannon is sitting calmly in his office wondering "What has to happen to make everyone in this country stop worrying about treason in the Oval and say - now is not the time to play politics".
In my recollection we've only done that twice as a country - 12/7/41 and 60 years later on 9/11. Scares the chit out of me that in Bannon's anarchist view of the world, that's the level of BIG he's thinking about to wipe treason off the front page (for years).
In any other world, this would constitute full blown conspiracy theory...Wag the Dog kind of stuff. Today, it feels like considering this as a possibility is just another day at the office.

(6,344 posts)I find it interesting the news is reporting a Russian spy ship close to US east coast.
CincyDem
(6,355 posts)...when it was reported last night, he was being interviewed at the time. His immediate reaction - yeah, they're out there all the time. Maybe a couple miles closer because of the 35 guys BHO expelled leaving a hole in their communications gathering capability, but they're always out there. He said something like "don't let that distract you from the fact that the country's highest ranking intelligence official has been in overt collusion with one of our longest standing, strongest adversaries".

(7,768 posts)In fact, everything about Bannon is ugly, inside and out. He's truly hideous in every respect. I actually can't even stand to look at him, he's so repulsive and dangerous. I also believe he is in total control.
Is this nightmare really happening to the country we love? It's fucking insane.

(6,344 posts)Or, is it republican collusion?
SNL portrayal of bannon is spot on!

(7,768 posts)Yeah, SNL has him like the grim reaper, always sitting quietly in the background. He's everywhere, omnipresent, just waiting...waiting...

Many govt officials right now are hoping nothing serious happens until stability is achieved with experienced people running things again

(11,804 posts)so often. Seems like all the diversions we get are like really really bad news. Why not a diversion like "President reveals the all cookie diet; scientifically proven to extend life!" or "President discovers life on other planets; say hello to the Tribbles!" All the diversions these days are downers.

(6,535 posts)at this point, the only thing I'd be surprised at would be the voluntary resignation of this entire cabal of assholes, and a return to more of a semi-normal existence.
You have to admit, some sort of undeniable evidence of space aliens visiting our planet would probably take the heat off of the cabal, at least for a little while....
