No checks and dangerous imbalance

I don`t plan on holding my breath waiting for a majority of Republicans to put country above party, because they`ll be standing before a microphone utilizing everything they`ve learned about diversion tactics. And, I won`t be fooled if on Monday a Republican talks about Trump and "getting to the bottom of things", but on Tuesday issues a clarification saying he was referring to intelligence agency leaks. After all, Flynn is gone, isn`t he? Now, let`s get on with replacing Obamacare with something better and removing those pesky regulations from pipeline construction.

An operational system of checks and balances went the way of phone booths and crank windows in your car. Everyone has been updated to accepting a life without them. That might work except when the party in power wants power more than anything, more than adherence to the Constitution, more than free and fair elections, even more than fair wages or clean water.

The Republican power folks can`t be bothered with oversight. Those big donations have strings attached, and most of them are wrapped around the necks of the donees. Wrapped around so tight a little tug will help them overlook black lung disease, schools with falling ceiling tiles and broken toilets, or even a Trump friend taking a selfie with the nuclear football guy.

We have a country marching toward fascism, a president who has broken just about every rule a president could break, a majority of the cabinet nominees hell-bent on destroying the very departments they`ll oversee, Russians vessels floating off the coast of Connecticut, a racist Attorney General......

Where are the leaders of that Grand Old Party, the ones with the immediate power to begin to set things right? Where? With few exceptions....in the back room fingering the laces of their jackboots, invigorated at the thoughts of being the gerrymandered backup for one-man rule.

I can think of two who might, Lindsey and John, but who would the 3rd be?

What the citizens of this country need to understand is the GOP wants their Medicare and Social Security and will do or say anything to get it.

They are going to give it to their friends on Wall Street, and they are going to get it.

It wont matter that much anymore anyway since Putin is now running this country and he doesnt believe in any social services, nor does he believe in gay people or Muslims or black people.

They're probably plotting with their advisors and campaign contributors
