There is no honor amongst these thieves.
It would be in the dems best interest for Trump to hang on through next year. The GOP power brokers know this/ so when they move it will certainly be in 2017.

If he is the Vice-President, and a former Governor and member of Congress, then the first thing you do is demand to be in the know regarding what kind of crap might be in the pipeline.
If one thing is clear, establishment Republicans are going to insist that any inquiry not touch Pence, who was their preferred candidate from the beginning.

Section 4.
Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President.
Thereafter, when the President transmits to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives his written declaration that no inability exists, he shall resume the powers and duties of his office unless the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive department or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit within four days to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office. Thereupon Congress shall decide the issue, assembling within forty-eight hours for that purpose if not in session. If the Congress, within twenty-one days after receipt of the latter written declaration, or, if Congress is not in session, within twenty-one days after Congress is required to assemble, determines by two-thirds vote of both Houses that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall continue to discharge the same as Acting President; otherwise, the President shall resume the powers and duties of his office.

(1,933 posts)This is like some ongoing comedy that keeps us entertained each and every day.Pence knew what he was getting into with Trump. But it looks as if I was right and Pence was assured that idiot would be impeached and he (Pence)would take over as president. I bet it was the plan all along. Oh...No...poor Pence has been lied to, I bet right now he's wiping the tears from his lying eyes in grief.

(3,426 posts)The two types repel. Trump no doubt asked his friends for some dirt on Pence just in case he tries to mess with Trump's thunder.
Trump most likely suggested his friends find some kind of stuff on Pence that would make him Trump's Agnew. Remember now, Trump's never had an original thought so that has to be the plan ! By the way I read where Trump has never had an original thought in the lie'n media !But I head that is not fake news !

(268,968 posts)<snip>
Mike Pence was a young lawyer on the rise, challenging a longtime Democratic congressman in a Republican-leaning Indiana district.
And then, scandal.
Campaign finance records from the 1990 effort showed that Pence, then 31, had been using political donations to pay the mortgage on his house, his personal credit card bill, groceries, golf tournament fees and car payments for his wife.
The spending had not been illegal at the time. But it stunned voters and undermined Pences strategy to portray the incumbent, Rep. Philip R. Sharp, as tainted by donations from special-interest political action committees.
Pences early stumble proved to be a defining moment, prompting a period of public remorse that helped create the wholesome image many Republicans now say makes him an ideal running mate to counterbalance the bombastic Donald Trump.
