It's a small pet peeve, but I've found this works, re: "Democrat party"

Whenever somebody uses that annoying phrase, innocently say "I don't know of any organization called the 'Democrat Party'; perhaps you should ask on of their officials. If they are a political party, as it sounds like, they probably have some literature available that might answer your question."

And when people are looking to get under my skin, I don't give them the satisfaction. Like the adage about wrestling with a pig.........you just get dirty and the pig likes it.

Because it is clearly intended to be a rude and domineering statement. "I have the right to define you as I see foot, and I've decided you are the Democrat party." It's intended to insult and control - but on the other hand other than making a polite correction "We generally prefer to be called the Democratic party" there's not much more you can do about it.

Assholes gotta asshole.
