Per our fire chief, Lake County (our neighbor to the west) has over 18" of water running over it's main east/west artery on the east end. And the rain hasn't stopped yet, we're getting more, much more than they anticipated.
At noon the Oroville Dam presser has everything hunky dory.

Unfortunately, the drone was grounded today because there are some wicked winds at Devil's gap, the location of the dam.

Here's yesterday's footage:

It is raining steady, so I expect the hole to flowing, it all its glory, by Sunday and Monday.

Dear Mother Nature,
No pineapple expresses please.

861 feet of water behind that dam. Emergency overflow levy weakened, primary overflow damaged.

I'm in San Gabriel Valley and mudslides are a big concern. I'm not in the potential mudslide area but the local news keeps going to live shots in Duarte where muddy water is flowing down the streets but not into driveways/yards yet.

Lots of downed trees and flooded highways in LA proper...big rigs being shown on the news look like submarines plowing thru the water.

Twitter has a lot of stuff to follow:

Mike Davis' Ecology of Fear and City of Quartz. Reading them substantially altered the way I view man's place in California's natural order.
